Why are presence and self-knowledge so important?
In order not to live in automatic mode, without being present in our own life, in our breathing, body, thoughts, words, actions and our habits.
It is very difficult to get to know ourselves if we are not present. The presence allows us to observe, this in turn, allows us to get to know each other, and that allows us to be aware, choose to inhabit ourselves, choose ourselves, choose to take care of ourselves.Yoga and Ayurveda are two ancient sciences of self-knowledge. They invite us to know our uniqueness (body, mind, spirit) and through self-observation to be able to heal ourselves, adding the habits that do us good and subtracting those that do not.
If we are present in our breathing we can learn to use our most efficient and powerful tool to manage our vital energy, calm the central nervous system, calm the mind and thus our emotions, and more calmly manage them.
Observe how you breathe:
If you do it by nose or mouth. If it's soft, slow and deep, or it's fast, strong, short.
Have you ever felt the temperature difference in the air when inhaling and exhaling through your nose?
Does any part of your body hurt? Dedicate yourself presence, observe yourself: what are your postural habits: when you are standing, sitting, eating, working, studying, are you present or absent from your body? Do you clench your teeth, tense your shoulders, frown?
Do you control your thoughts or do they control you? To be present is to observe those thoughts, which are like voices in our head, are they ours? Or we are repeating someone else's voices. Our BEING is the one in charge, not our mind. Choose what you think.
Observe how you talk to yourself and talk to the rest. It's a good way to give yourself a presence. Each word has a frequency and can vibrate from love or from fear (hate, resentment). Inhabiting intolerance makes you more tolerant. Speak (you) with more love.
Practice being present in your own body, in the sensations it produces in the face of different stimuli, energies, food, sounds, thoughts, emotions.
Observe, pay attention, where your attention goes, your energy goes. Nourish it.
With love. Pauli🪷
